Rehabilitation Programs

We offer the following rehabilitation programs:

Amputation
The goal of rehabilitation after amputation is to help the patient return to the highest level of function and independence possible. The multi-disciplinary team will work on fitting and use of artificial limb, skin management/wound care, contracture prevention, and will work to improve balance, coordination and endurance.

Arthritis
For many people the pain of osteoarthritis can become so severe that it disrupts normal living. Caring for yourself becomes difficult, and handling family or work responsibilities may become impossible. HealthSouth's arthritis rehabilitation program helps an individual reduce and manage their pain while increasing their independence.

Brain Injury
Early rehabilitation is critical to help patients achieve their fullest potential after brain injury. HealthSouth has established a rehabilitation program that helps patients achieve and maximize functional and cognitive recovery following a brain injury. The program enables patients to become more self-sufficient and understand how to avoid future health problems.

General Rehabilitation
HealthSouth’s General Rehabilitation Program provides comprehensive medical rehabilitation services for individuals who have experienced a decline in their physical and cognitive abilities. This decline may be due to an illness or other medical condition. Our General Rehabilitation Program is designed to help patients maximize functional independence; maximize emotional well-being; and resume their previous roles or modified roles at work, home or leisure.

Lymphedema
HealthSouth's Lymphedema Program focuses on alleviating the swelling that occurs in legs, arms, face, neck, abdomen or chest when the lymphatic system malfunctions. Our program is based on a patient's needs and goals and results in reduced swelling and improved quality of life. The program also teaches both the patient and family to manage the condition and provides follow-up care and referral to additional resources as necessary.

Orthopedics (Hip Fractures/joint replacements)
Rehabilitation following an orthopedic surgery is a very challenging and demanding experience. The rehabilitation program for hip fractures or joint replacements was established to assist our patients in setting and achieving their goals to maximize functional recovery and independence.

Multiple Trauma
HealthSouth is committed to providing every opportunity for optimal recovery of the traumatically injured patient. Our teams provide extensive and comprehensive rehabilitation programs, keeping pace with a wide range of traumatic conditions including closed head, spinal cord and multi-trauma/multi-system injuries. Each program offers a team approach to establishing an individualized plan of care based on the specific deficits experienced by the patient.

Neurorehabilitation
HealthSouth’s Neurological Disorders Program meets the needs of patients with conditions such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Guillain Barre, and Polyneuropathy. By following a rehabilitation program designed to achieve functional gains, patients become more functionally dependent and learn how to reduce the risk of future medical problems.

Spinal Cord Injury
Rehabilitation is a critical part of recovery for many spinal cord injuries. The effects of this injury mean that you must change, relearn or redefine how you live. The focus of our Spinal Cord Injury program is to address a patient’s medical needs, provide education and maximize mobility and functional independence.

Stroke
Stroke occurs in America every 45 seconds and it is our nation’s No. 3 killer and leading cause of severe long-term disability. A stroke can strike anyone at any time, often beginning with weakness, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing and the inability to perform simple tasks that we usually take for granted. Depending on the severity of the attack, the stroke survivor can be left in a helpless state without the ability to walk, talk, read or write. Rehabilitation is a critical part of recovery for many stroke survivors. The goals of our comprehensive stroke program are to increase independence in many areas, such as self-care skills, mobility, communication, swallowing, cognition, and social skills.
