Inpatient Services

HealthSouth Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital offers a more intense regimen and higher level of care such as greater physician involvement and therapy time, as well as increased availability of pharmacy and laboratory services.

Specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation, our physicians lead a highly qualified team of nurses and therapists to provide a coordinated program of care. HealthSouth’s team approach engages rehabilitation experts from many disciplines, including:

Rehabilitation Nursing — Implements each patient’s medical care program as directed by his or her physician

Occupational Therapy — Designs and delivers activity-based therapy to promote independence in the areas of self care, home management and community reintegration

Physical Therapy — Evaluates and designs a treatment program to address limitations in physical function, mobility and safety

Respiratory Therapy — Ensures proper respiratory function through services such as oxygen supplements and aerosol treatments

Speech-Language Pathology — Assesses and treats individuals with communication and comprehension disorders, cognitive difficulties and swallowing disorders

Psychology — Provides support services to assist the patient and family in adjusting to the patient's disability

Dietary and Nutritional Counseling — Supervises all meals to ensure patients receive the necessary nutrition

Case Manager — Coordinates with the physician to ensure the patient’s needs are met and involves the family and other caregivers in the patient’s rehabilitation

Music Therapy — Uses music to improve physical abilities (use of arms, hands, and fingers), cognitive abilities (memory, impulse control focused attention), and the ability to communicate by using rhythm, tempo, melody, dynamics, etc.

Pharmacy — On admission, the pharmacist coordinates medication information through patient/family interview and review of transferring facility information. The pharmacist assists the patient's physician in prescribing the appropriate medication during their inpatient rehabilitation stay. At discharge, the pharmacist educates/counsels the patient and family on use of discharge medications prescribed by their physician.
